Border Region Manufacturing Cluster
The North West of Ireland is becoming an increasingly important region for the world’s MedTech sector. There are large manufacturing facilities in the region, but the sector also supports hundreds of other jobs in companies that service these manufacturers. In fact, seven of the world’s top 10 MedTech companies are serviced by specialist businesses based in the North West of Ireland.
Those seven global leaders in the manufacture of medical devices have combined revenues of around USD $124 billion.
They each have significant facilities in Ireland, although not all of those facilities are in the North West. Some are but those that are not are in locations like Dublin as well as the West of Ireland, primarily in Limerick and Galway.
In other words, the North West’s specialist service providers operate throughout the country, supporting Ireland’s MedTech industry.
The North West companies that specialise in providing services to these major global MedTech corporations include the eight businesses in the Atlantic MedTech Cluster. Therefore, the services provided from the North West of Ireland to some of the biggest MedTech companies in the world include:
